Steel Grating for Trench Cover Applications

Steel grating is widely used on the ground of passageway, roadway, courtyard and buildings as the drainage trench grating, pipeline trench cover, underground passage cover, air shaft cover, light well cover and inspection well cover. Steel grating trench cover is commonly made of fixed frame and moving steel grating plate. For further security and firmness, we can supply fasteners and anti-theft device.

Types of steel grating trench cover

GT type. Also called trench grate and angle frame type, it is most common seen type. It is suitable for places except for the highroad, where has light traffic. It can be divided into two different types.

- Side trench cover is installed on the edge of the lane. The bearing bar direction is perpendicular to driving direction.
- Cross section trench cover. The bearing bar direction of cross section trench cover is same to the driving direction. When using, we should fasten the steel grating firmly with bolts and nuts to prevent grating from moving and causing accident.

GU type trench cover. Also called angle side grates, it is suitable for most trench of concrete ground. It is simple and economical. Besides, it need not special trench opening. When the steel grating trench cover used in the T-6 or T-14 grade, trench opening should be buried with angle bar for firmness and security. Except that, you can choose the specialized U shape trench. Used with steel grating trench cover, this device can prevent sewage from leaking into the ground. Moreover, this type trench cover is just suitable for side trench cover when there are vehicles passing.

GU type steel grating has solid edge angle bar for security.

GU type steel grating trench cover is used in drainage trenches.
GM type. Also called box grates, it is suitable for roadway and public facilities. GM type steel grating is designed into flexible structure. One side of grating is fixed onto the frame with the other three side are flexible. The steel grating can be opened into 110° for flexibility and easy operation. Hinge pin design is anti-theft and simplify the construction process. Additional, the 50 mm cross bar pitch has excellent impact resistance performance.

GM type grating is composed of outer frame and openable steel grating.

GM type grating is widely used as inspection trench cover and drainage trench cover.

Specifications of steel grating trench cover

Material: low carbon steel plate and sheet.
Surface treatment: hot dipped galvanized.
Bearing bar type: flat bar, serrated bar or I bar.
Cross bar pitch:
- GT type: 100 mm or 50 mm.
- GU type: 100 mm or 50 mm.
- GM type: commonly is 50 mm.

Bearing load grade of trench cover

At different applications and road conditions, we should adopts different steel grating trench cover for security and firmness. In the following chart, we introduce the load grade type and bearing load.
